Sherburn Town Council secures £135k for Eversley Park entrance upgrade!

Published: 14 December 2022

Sherburn in Elmet Town Council is delighted to have secured nearly £135,000 of funding as part of Selby District Council’s Town Centre Revitalisation grant scheme. Following several rounds of consultations with residents, the final plans were put to decision-makers at Selby District Council, who greenlit the application.

Project lead for the Eversley Park improvements, Councillor Peter Baumann, explained that "the funds will provide much-needed enhancements to the safety, aesthetics and accessibility of the entrance to one of Sherburn’s most-used facilities. Thank you to everyone involved in securing the funds for this community, from residents engaging with the consultations to staff and councillors at the Town and District Councils for their support of the project".

Councillor David Buckle, Lead Executive Member for Communities and Economic Development at Selby District Council, commented: “We’re delighted to be able to support this project with a grant through our Town Centres Revitalisation Programme. This is just one of many grants we have awarded through this scheme, which is supporting the valuable work of local organisations and people to revitalise their centres.

“Eversley Park is one the largest open spaces within the district, this grant will support vital improvements to the entrance of the park making it safer and more welcoming.”

Although there will undoubtedly be a degree of unavoidable disruption whilst the works take place (planned for Spring 2023), the Council will work to keep this to a minimum and thanks residents and businesses in advance for their understanding whilst these vital upgrades are completed.

Further information will be communicated via our website, social media and around the development area in the run-up to the works.
